COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
Four 80 point Unit Examinations.
Unit examinations will be objective or, should the student so choose, essay examinations. The examinations will cover class lectures, class handouts, and text readings assigned for each unit. They emphasize course objectives one and two, but cover all three course objectives.
One 100 point Final Examination.
The final examination will be a multiple-choice examination. The examination will cover all lectures and reading assignments. It will be given
EXTRA CREDIT 'TOY LAB STORIES'
Students can earn up to five extra credit points by completing five optional Toy-Lab projects. Students who elect this option can write up to two stories during the first half of the semester and an additional three stories during the second half of the semester. Each optional toy lab project is worth one point. To complete each optional toy lab project students will
1. Select 6-10 images from those displayed in the toy room (SSC- 5) in the lab area of the psychology department.
2. Make a three dimensional picture with those images selected.
3. Identify on paper the images selected and briefly describe the picture.
4. Write and submit a story which contains the following elements:
What is going on in the picture.
What the people (if there are any) are thinking and feeling.
What events led up to what is going on in the picture.
How things will turn out.
5. Analyze the story:
Tell the story from the standpoint of each object included in the picture.
Write out any associations you might have from your past to the story you just wrote.
6. Submit your answers to instructions 3-5 above.
GRADES:
Final grades will be based on cumulative examination points. Cumulative points will be assigned as follows:
4 80 point Unit Examinations 320 points
1 Final Examination 100 points
TOTAL POINTS POSSIBLE 420 points
A tentative class curve will be posted after each Unit Examination. Extra credit can be earned by completing the Toy-Lab exercises (See page 2 above).
FINAL EXAMINATION
The final examination will be held in SSC-101 at
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Attendance is expected at regularly scheduled lecture and examination hours. Students sometimes unavoidably miss an examination. Students who miss an examination should contact the instructor to arrange for a make-up examination. Make-up examinations will be essay examinations.
COURSE COMPLETION POLICY:
Incompletes are not normally granted. Students are expected to complete all requirements for the course during the semester in which they are enrolled. Incompletes may be granted for extended medical absence.
