The third annual MAA/NCS Team Competition was held on Saturday, November
13, 1999, with 44 teams from 19 colleges and universities participating.
This compares with 29 teams from 11 campuses in 1997 and 37 teams from
19 campuses in 1998. The expenses were covered by a fee of $15 per team.
Teams of up to three undergraduates students work collaboratively at their
home campuses on the ten problems, under the supervision of a local faculty
member. The problems count 10 points each, and scores ranged from
14 to 89, with each intermediate decile represented as follows: three each
in the teens and 20s, ten in the 30s, 16 in the 40s, five in the 50s, four
in the 60s, one in the 70s and two in the 80s.
